New Zealand has announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, with Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra being the only two players set to make their debut in the tournament. Devon Conway has been included in the squad after recovering from a broken thumb, with Kane Williamson leading the team as captain. Ben Sears has been named as the 16th reserve player travelling with the squad.
The squad consists of players who have proven themselves in the format and are ready to compete in the upcoming tournament. New Zealand coach Gary Stead believes that the team has all bases covered and is capable of adapting to different conditions in the West Indies. He praised Matt Henry for his hard work on his T20 skills and Rachin Ravindra for his impressive performances over the past year.
Veterans Tim Southee and Trent Boult are also part of the experienced squad. Conway had been ruled out of the IPL due to his injury, but he is now fit to play in the World Cup. Williamson missed New Zealand’s last two T20I series but now returns to lead the team. Adam Milne and Kyle Jamieson are unavailable due to injuries, but their absence was made up by Allen, Bracewell, Chapman, Neesham, and Sodhi who went on a tour of Pakistan earlier this year.
The complete squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup includes Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Trent Boult, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell
